Every year, Ledge Blanc wines must pass a third-party blind review before they are allowed to carry the name.
It’s a unique process designed to elevate both style and quality, ensuring that every bottle labeled Ledge Blanc meets the standards we’ve set for this wine.
Pictured here are some of the blind sample bottles used in the judging.
We’re excited to share that six 2025 vintage Ledge Blanc wines are on the way soon.
Stay tuned.

Ledge Blanc works here because the climate allows it to.
Moderated summers slow ripening. Cool nights protect aromatics. A deep winter gives the vines the rest and protection they need to start fresh each year.
The result is clarity, lift, and energy in the glass.
Crisp. Aromatic. Refreshing.
A style shaped by patience and place.

Crisp. Aromatic. Refreshing.
The Wisconsin Ledge AVA runs along the western shoreline of Lake Michigan, following the exposed limestone of the Niagara Escarpment.
This northern, cool-climate landscape was shaped by glaciers and moderated by the lake, creating long, steady growing seasons and naturally bright fruit.
Ledge Blanc is a wine style made because of this place and the grapes that thrive here.

Had the chance to present at the Wisconsin Fresh Fruit Conference about Ledge Blanc and why it matters.
Ledge Blanc started as a simple idea: make a clear, high-quality white wine style that actually fits our place. One that’s crisp, aromatic, and approachable, but still serious. A wine that tells the story of the Wisconsin Ledge and helps people understand what our fruit can do.
That story keeps coming back to the same point: hybrids aren’t a compromise-they’re the future.
These grapes are built for our climate. They ripen with balance, hold complex acidity, and don’t need the same level of inputs to succeed. That means healthier vineyards, more consistent farming, and wines that make sense here—not just technically, but culturally.
Ledge Blanc isn’t about forcing something. It’s about saying this is what the Wisconsin Ledge AVA does well, and doing it with intention. Seeing growers, winemakers, and fruit folks engage with that idea at the conference was energizing.
The future of Midwest wine is already being grown. We just have to keep believing in it and making wines that prove the point.

Crisp, aromatic, and endlessly versatile, that’s Ledge Blanc.
Winter in the Wisconsin Ledge AVA is a quiet but important season. With average snowfall in the 40–50 inch range, our vineyards rest under a steady blanket that protects the soil and recharges moisture with spring melt. While the vines sleep, the real work continues in the cellar.
Right now, growers and winemakers across the region are deep into blending and preparing the next vintage of Ledge Blanc. This is where the style truly comes together. Individual fermentations are tasted, compared, and refined. Balancing aromatics, texture, acidity, and length. The goal isn’t sameness, but clarity: a wine that is unmistakably crisp, aromatic, refreshing, and balanced, while still reflecting the personality of each producer and vineyard site. Once finalized, these wines are submitted for third-party evaluation, and only those that pass may carry the Ledge Blanc name. It’s a meaningful checkpoint and a shared commitment to quality, transparency, and regional identity.
That attention to detail pays off in the glass. These crisp, aromatic whites are among the most versatile wines you can pour at the table. Elegant enough for celebrations, but honest enough for a weeknight meal. Their natural acidity and aromatics make them perfect companions to the foods of the winter season: roasted vegetables, creamy potatoes, rich poultry, savory stews, and aged cheeses. The brightness refreshes, the minerality grounds, and the aromatics tie it all together for a balancing act that feels effortless, yet is anything but.
So as snow settles over the vines and the new vintage takes shape in cellars across the AVA, raise a glass to what’s growing quietly beneath it all. The next expression of Ledge Blanc.

Crisp, aromatic whites are an underrated but absolutely incredible pairing for Thanksgiving.
They’re one of the few wine styles that can handle the entire plate:
• Turkey – bright acidity cuts through the richness and keeps every bite tasting fresh.
• Stuffing – the aromatics play perfectly with sage, rosemary, thyme, and all the savory herbs.
• Cranberry sauce – freshness and fruit complement the tart-sweet flavors instead of competing with them.
• Green bean casserole – crisp whites cut through the creamy mushroom base and lighten the whole dish.
• Pumpkin pie – the lift balances warm spices and sweetness without feeling heavy.
• Mashed potatoes & gravy – acidity adds life to a rich, buttery favorite.
Ledge Blanc was made for meals like this.
One of the few wine styles that truly works with the entire Thanksgiving meal — a delicious, safe, and smart choice every time.

There are five grapes that define Ledge Blanc, and each thrives on the Wisconsin Ledge AVA: Itasca, Frontenac Blanc, LaCrescent, Frontenac Gris, and St. Pepin.
